Live theatre doesn't give you a second take.
Capturing live performance is fundamentally different from any other production context. You can't call cut. You can't control the light. You can't ask for another take. Every camera operator has one shot at every moment — and the audience is always in the frame if you're not careful.
The challenge was building a capture strategy that could work with the unpredictability of live theatre — multiple cameras, a single live pass — while still delivering footage that felt cinematic and intentional rather than documentary.
"If touching beautiful flowers fills her mind with ugly thoughts, could working with rust, grease, and grime help her find beauty in her mind?"
Treat the stage like a location. Plan for every moment.
Brought on as both videographer and production advisor, I developed the full capture strategy from the ground up — defining camera positions, shot priorities, and communication protocols so every operator knew exactly where to be and when.
