What happens when a 30-year-old joins social media for the first time?
At age 30, Hannah Mootz found herself in a position most people couldn't imagine — she had never had any form of social media. Not once. What started as a simple experiment to document that first plunge quickly became something deeper: a six-year journey through hilarious mishaps, real vulnerability, and an unexpected reckoning with why she'd stayed away in the first place.
The film raises questions most of us have stopped asking — about identity, connection, and what we trade for the convenience of being online. It's funny, it's human, and it lands somewhere you don't see coming.
"A simple experiment became a six-year documentary — and a reminder of what connection looked like before the feed."
Producer — from first interview through final master.
As producer, I was embedded in this project from 2017 through wrap in 2023 — the longest production I've worked on. My role spanned conducting on-camera interviews with Hannah, shooting and capturing footage across the full production timeline, editing the film through its many iterations, and handling sound design before we sent the mix off for professional mastering.
